First blog post!
Hi there!
Welcome to my blog! Thank you for stopping by! I have always wanted to start a blog and I thought that it, at this point in time, it might be a fun pasttime and anecdote to the serious academic writing I do for my PhD. Think of it as a diary— or a parody of what people think my diary would be?— but public and out there for the internet to see? Expect social satire, whining about my PhD, rants about chronic illness, commentary about fashion collections, scathing food reviews, banter about running (or running injuries), and possibly some dessert recipes. That is not to say that there will not be serious subject matter here and indeed, I do hope to use my blog to discuss and advocate for topics that are important to me like chronic illness, disability advocacy, mental health, and women’s rights. I am going to post some original translations of Latin literature, reviews of academic books, reflections on pedagogy, and I hope to do some “pop scholarship” here (for lack of a better word)—and articles on Classical reception in fashion (or other pop culture, if an interesting use of Classics appears in a pop song, for example) written for a general audience (i.e. the people who would read a blog, rather than those looking for an academic journal article— but if the latter, check out my forthcoming publications).
I can’t promise that I will post here particularly often, but it will probably be more often than (I used to) post on Instagram, which may reassure some of you! At the time I am posting this, there is admittedly nothing here. Mainly, I am just posting this to see if this works? If there’s anything you’d like to see on my blog, feel free to contact me. Thank you for reading and stay tuned for future posts.
